One day left in Washington!

Um, okay, so Paris is happening apparently.

Is it dumb that even though I've been planning this trip for the better part of six months and I've been saving money to do this for three and a half of those months, I still somehow never thought it would actually, y'know, happen?

Not that I don't want it to! It's just really weird for me to think that I, me, a little girl who's still afraid of talking on the phone, am going to be farther away from home than I've ever been before, I'll be living with people I've never met, surrounded by people who speak a different language than the one I'm used to, and--for the first time ever--I'll be living in a city. Well, technically the suburbs of a city, but still. I'll be spending a ton of time in one of the world's favorite cities: Paris.

Aghhh, that's so weird! I'm going to live in Paris. Me. Me as in, that girl who got way too excited when her family gave her a big lacy hairbow for her birthday, that girl who headbangs to classical music and movie soundtracks, that girl who gets irrationally angry when you mention the tininess of her hands--that girl is leaving the country and going to Europe.

It's especially weird because even though I'm nineteen, I still feel like a little kid most of the time. I wonder if that's ever going to go away, but it might not (especially if I keep getting excited about stuff like hairbows). Anyway, there are two squirrels in my backyard right now trying to fight for the same spot on the fence. One of them is trying to half-nelson the other one, but, ooh--nope, the other squirrel bit the first one and it ran away. There it goes.

There's usually a WWE-squirrel division fighting match going on in our backyard--free entertainment. I wonder if there will be homicidal squirrels in my backyard in Croissy(the suburb where I'll be living)?

Sorry this post is so random--also sorry I wasn't fast enough to snap a pic of the angry squirrels. I'm still kind of scatterbrained as I try to do the last bit of packing before we leave for Utah tomorrow. This is my last day in Washington for three months, sigh. I really am going to miss how blue the sky is during the summer. It rains more in Paris.

Here's my pretty backyard, sans squirrels. It's kinda hard to see, but we have a zipline--I seriously doubt Croissy will have one of those. But hey, it's not all bad. I think I'll be getting some advantages from this deal. Baguettes. Macaroons. Chocolate everywhere. The freakin' Eiffel Tower!!

Am I getting annoying? Let me know if I am. I'm just so, so, so excited. But I still have a couple loose ends to tie up before I say au revoir to l'Etats-Unis, so I'd better sign off for now. More adventures(and maybe even some homicidal squirrels?) next time!

(P.S. A fun thing I think I might do is give you guys a French song at the end of each post--music is a great way to communicate when words don't do enough. First up: "Le Festin" by Camille, from the Pixar movie Ratatouille. Love this movie. Love this song. Love whoever is bothering to read my silly blog!)

Bye for now! May le festin be sur ton chemin!
